It was purchased with public money, it is public property, was posted by that public agency and is still available on their website.
Do you even have the proper usage rights to use this image in this manner? You should be aware, that the maker of this photo is entitled up to 100,000 in damages.

How many images were purchased? Was it just a group portrait, or were there more. I am of the opinion that you're skewing transactions to paint the worst light on people.
It's called RESEARCH and TRUTH. Find it before someone sues you for defamation of character!
Additionally, if you don't like what's going on, grow a pair and run for office instead of being a hate monger. You are a disgrace!

ReplyDeleteAND, IF the Directors signed some sort of agreement whereby the photo shop retained usage rights, then it would be an ILLEGAL use of taxpayer funds and the Directors would be personally liable for the full amount. So, either they waived rights they legally couldn't, or they foolishly overpaid for a a horrible self-serving portrait. Whichever shoe fits.

ReplyDeleteHaving seen 2 of the 3 people in this picture all I can say is that they do not look like this in person and seem very vain since the picture has been reported to be airbrushed.
ReplyDeleteAs a former military member and the proud parent of 4 military members, this is a slap in the face the way the flag is depicted. If they truly want to dispaly support for the flag then use a REAL flag.
As for the overall appearence of the picture, next time go to the high school and ask the photography students to take your portrait. They can do much better than this and the cost would be FAR less.
What I find really ironic Tracy is that you've yet to address a question that has been posed to you several times.

ReplyDeleteThe number of images is irrelevant. This photograph serves no public purpose. It sure doesn't provide $725 worth of public purpose. What makes it even more outrageous is the fact that the District already owned a digital camera and could have taken this photo themselves, at no cost.
This purchase was indefensible- and the Directors need to be held to account for it.

See, spending the money in the first place on CRAP like this is a real problem. Funny, all 3 of you are airbrushed and still look pretty darn crappy. The I love the comments about copy rights and how many photos were taken. Just like the rats in DC, as soon as you start shedding lihtg on their misdeeds they start with the misdirection. Copy rights and how many photos is so far beside the point. But it's THEIR money to do whatever THEY want to do with it right? They always say that "I've" done this and "we've" done that. Doesnt have anything to do with the citizens. It just has to do with how high and mighty they are. In a way I'm happy that they havent been investigated yet. When it finally does pop they will have commited so many illegal acts that hopefully they will go to jail along with some of the CLDC members and maybe their attourney will get disbarred as well.
ReplyDeleteYes. It is funny how we want to focus on copyright laws and how many photos they got for OUR $725.00. The facts are this. They purchased a digital camera prior to contracting for this photo. Why did they have to PAY for a photo when they had the equipment for a photo in their office? They could have gone out to the golf course and had a spouse take a photo of all of them doing RECREATION. The point is NOT the copyright, the business who took the photo, etc. The point is that these people turn down LEGIT requests for funds for RECREATION and then turn around and spend money on garbage like this!

If the mayor of MH was doing crap like this or the Chief of Police you would have hung them out to dry. This is a 10 year fraud against the public. I hope someone nails their butts right to that picture. They have nerve telling the people of EC that they are volunteers and are fulfilling a mandate. This is their own agenda and has NOTHING to do with this community or the people in it. I find that to be very disturbing. This board is the perfect example of corruption. And any elected person who backs them or does not help to put a stop to this is just as guilty if not more guilty.
At one point I thought OM was a rabid dog of sorts. The more I hear about this group and their doings/undoings the more I feel sorry for OM for being made to deal with them. You can bet your last penny that I will be at their next meeting. This makes the people of MH appear stupid. How could we fall for this and allow this to go on. These 3 people should be ashamed. Every thing here is from public records available at the $64.00 per hour office, from their $3,800.00 website(when working), or from publicly available information. The purpose is to inform Alert Readers like you, so You can contact those board members and express your displeasure with how they are handling things- they are elected officials after all. The people you name have nothing to do with fixing this- it is an independently elected body. The "pull" comes from YOU- the voter. Now, go do that voodoo that you do so wellll- and give them a piece of your mind. Results will follow.
ReplyDeleteResults will follow? I have read the Minutes and watched the YouTube clips. I noticed that the WECRD Minutes show who was present for their meetings. It also tells me what the board had to say. Is there no public comment at these meetings? Why are there so many people at most of these meetings but nobody, from the public, ever says anything? If you people are all so unhappy how do you just sit there year after year?
ReplyDeleteI have been to their office. I reviewed the Green Play document and another report. I was asked why I wanted to see these things. I did not know that this was part of the records request policy. Also for such a spendy report it sure lacked information. $13,000 for a letter is something I could have done. $13,000 for a few pages of paper with no data. It seems to me that this was formed and there was no plan. For 8-10 years these people have been in limbo or lala land. The people who voted for this were not very smart. Who votes for something with no plan? Now you see what you have.

The Minutes are a an absolute joke. If you attend one of their meetings you will see how much is left out from them (including all the whispering by the Board that the public can't hear). As for the public comment, at every meeting I have attended people have spoken and asked questions but they never put those in the Minutes...that would be like advertising all the public dissent. The time limits are short & strict (and they will cut you off mid-sentence - with a gavel, mind you - since they don't care to actually hear what you are saying). The really frustrating part is when you ask a question and then wait for an answer but all you are greeted with is blank stares (the point of that is to let you know they have no intention of answering your question).
Please go to the next meeting! You will be nauseated by their fakeness before the meeting and enraged by their corruptness by the end.
