According to the Western Elmore County Recreation District's $3,800.00 Website(when working), the District office will only be open Tuesdays thru Thursdays for only 4 hours each day(10 AM to 2 PM) . Since the office is occasionally closed for Christmas or other calamities, it's fair to guess they operate about 50 weeks a year. Probably less, but, hey- they deserve a break. Three days a week, four hours a day (assuming they take no lunch- Alert Readers will have to help- is it closed for lunch? Let Silence know). So the office is open about 50 X 3 X 4=600 hours per year. There is a paid Board Secretary there 50 X 2 X 4=400 hours per year.
So- what are we paying for this office to be open while we can't get there smack in the middle of only three days per week? Turns out, it's an average of $64.57 PER HOUR. To be fair- it's only(!) $50.00 per hour on Wednesdays, (30k/600) but it's $71.81 per hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and that averages out to $64.57 per hour it is open. Here is the cost breakdown:

OM here. So, I was charged $70.00 to obtain copies of documents (42 pages of mostly current financial info other than my request for information on how someone was hired). Compared to this cost...I guess I should feel lucky that the WECRD Board elected to let me off "easy" and not charge me $64.57 per hour for "research." Idaho Public Records Law Manual...available online at the Idaho Attorney General web page.

I would suggest that if you're going to have this little website that you include ALL the facts. You omit facts that don't play to your obviously tainted one sided view. These woman give freely of their time and are trying to do something important for our community. What about the children that have nothing to do and how they've helped them stay out of trouble and off drugs? What about what we DO get for our $64.57 an hour? What about THAT?
ReplyDeleteRight- did you mean the sunny, cheery, well decorated place on 6th St for children to hang out from 10 AM to 2PM three days per week? Or the field of dreams(delusions)(weeds and garbage)on 18th?
ReplyDeleteWhat money has been given to the children? They flat turned down a proposal from David Freer for monies to help ALL youth programs in our community. They turned the city down on the walking path across from the WECRD property. Please----remind me of how much these 3 women give back to the community! They are going to be why this project goes down in flames. Nothing these women do is honest or on behalf of this community or the children in it. This si the Mollie, Jana and Marsha club and they do as THEY want...not as the community asks. Your 10:13 post today is clearly that if a less than informed person. No more than opinions based on ZERO facts. The WECRD Board is the problem not a solution. Plese place blame where it should be.
ReplyDeleteWhat do we get for $64.57 an hour other than a bill? A member of our community requested documents from the WECRD and was not only billed for copies but also $70.00 for "research." This person also pays taxes. How is this fair? This person spends her own money on the facts while the WECRD spends my money on CRAP!
ReplyDeleteSo back to my original question WECRD Lover. What does this community get for their money? Please base your response on FACTS and DATA only as opposed to what you opine of these "fine" people. I think this entire operation is criminal. 9 years and still nothing but we sure as hell pay for it! What a joke.
I suppose that they were suppose to save for a building in just one or two years? They are SAVING you idiots, to build a facility. That takes time. They had a very nice display at the AFAD and a float that were both for the children. I watched the children playing and having fun at their booth. They have had "fun walks" and they give to critical local causes. For someone to bash these three sweet ol gals that just want to help the children of our community is a shame.
ReplyDeleteWECRD Lover
Just the tip of the iceberg that is going to come out not like the meeting times of the WECRD where people can't speak and WECRD lover run your month as one of them and see how fast you get run over on here.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 2:23 pm you are a joke. As for us being idiots...anybody that falls for the WECRD's garbage is the much larger fool. We know the truth based on the facts (ie info right from their office). You just talk to talk. Thank you for the post based on facts as opposed to your opinion. Facts always speak louder than words. Yes...3 sweet ol gals---who steal from the taxpayers of Elmore County over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
ReplyDeleteWECRD Lover stated "they give to critical local causes.". I thought the purpose of the RECREATION district was to promote RECREATION. I did not realize that they were going to use OUR tax money to give to critical causes. No wonder it has taken them years to save any money. They have lost thier focus on what the RECREATION district was created for, the promotion of RECREATION not to support critical causes. Hence it has been 10 LONG years and not a shovel full of dirt has been moved other than for an outdated, worn out sign.
ReplyDeleteIsnt that sign false advertising? It could lead people to beleive that is what will be built when really that was the 12 million dollar plan by Kroc. It is misleading.
ReplyDeleteAlso they could have cleaned up the garbage before they mowed. That property looks awful. I guess the trash/weed police turn a blind eye on that one. What a dump.
